Self taught, Chad has worked in various media including watercolor, oil and pencil. Mr. Buffington’s work spans countless subjects with many of his original works in private collections throughout the United States. He has gained notoriety and popularity as a portrait artist in the Susquehanna Valley area with his commissioned works featured in numerous local institutions. Recently, Mr. Buffington was commissioned to do a portrait of Pennsylvania Academy of Music Founders and internationally known classical pianists, Frances Veri and Michael Jamanis. The painting is displayed in the new Pennsylvania Academy of Music building in downtown Lancaster, Pennsylvania.
Dramatically realistic with painstaking attention to detail, Chad’s work engenders an awestruck reaction by the viewer. The vivid representation of the subject is truly captivating and recipients of his paintings find themselves emotionally moved. Mr. Buffington’s work includes realistic as well as abstract pieces and has won numerous awards. The Drumore Estate was the venue for a private showing of his work during the Fall of 2006 and his work has been displayed in Pennsylvania galleries, Lancaster Artwalk and First Friday exhibits as well as being selected to participate in the Lancaster County Art Association's National Juried Show of 2008. In addition to his many accomplishments, Chad was recently commissioned to paint the cover art for the book entitled "Dear Coach: Letters Home From The War" written by Lois Herr, to be published in the Fall of 2009.
